Where is Epako Safari Lodge & Spa located?
Our reserve is conveniently located midway between Windhoek, Swakopmund and the Etosha National Park. You can reach Epako by road or air transport (to our private airstrip).
Does Epako offer Airport Transfers?
We can arrange comfortable transportation by either road or aircraft. You can request road transfer to/from Windhoek city (or Windhoek International Airport). We can also arrange transfers by light aircraft to our private 1,300m airstrip, located just 5 minutes from the guest building. Both transfer options are subject to availability and incur an additional cost. You can contact us to book or request more information.
What is the best time of year to visit Epako?
We welcome guests all year-round, offering unique experiences tailored to each season.
Is Epako suitable for families with children?
Yes, we welcome children of all ages. Infants under 2 are welcomed to stay with you for free, children under 14 years old get a 50% discount on rack rates, and full adult rates apply for ages 14 and up. Children must be supervised at all times, and interleading rooms are available for families upon request.
What should I pack for my stay at Epako?
We strongly encourage neutral-colored clothing (like beige or khaki) to blend in with the surrounding environment, but you can wear any comfortable clothes you prefer. We recommend packing sweaters for the chilly evenings, as well as sunscreen and sturdy walking shoes for your protection during activities.
Is Wi-Fi available at the lodge?
Yes, Wi-Fi is available across the entire lodge, allowing you to stay connected throughout your stay. Please keep in mind that although we are connected via optic fibre, our remote location may affect connection speeds.
What languages are spoken by the staff?
While English is Namibia’s official language and spoken by all our staff, many team members are also fluent in other languages, including Afrikaans, French, and more.
Is Epako in a Malaria-free zone?
Your well-being is our top priority. Epako is located in a malaria-free zone, so you can focus on enjoying your adventure.
What does “Epako” mean?
Epako is a Herero word that represents a serene corner nestled between the valleys of soaring mountain peaks.

What is included in the room rate?
Your Epako experience includes two daily safari activities, all meals and refreshments, a wide selection of beverages (excluding premium wines and spirits), complimentary use of the spa and fitness area, free Wi-Fi, in-room teas and coffees, game drive snacks and drinks, as well as all applicable taxes (tourism levy and VAT)
What is excluded from the room rate?
Please note that the following are not included in your room rate and will incur additional costs: telephone calls, mini bar charges, laundry service, spa treatments and massages, shop purchases, transfers to/from the lodge, gratuities.
Do you offer special rates or packages?
Yes, group rates, long-stay and special occasion packages are also available. You can contact us directly for more information.
What are the Check-in and Check-out timings?
Our standard check-in time is 12:00 PM, and check-out is 11:00 AM. We’re happy to accommodate special requests whenever possible, so please contact the lodge to discuss your needs. Please note that our main gate is open from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, so please let us know in advance if you plan to arrive/depart outside these hours.

What types of accommodations do you offer?
We offer exciting on-site activities like game drives, safari walks, cheetah visits, rhinoceros tracking and many others, available exclusively to our Epako guests. What is included in the room rate?

Do I need to book activities in advance?
No. Upon arrival and once settled into your suite, your dedicated guide will meet with you to discuss the various activities available and help you create a personalized itinerary that aligns with your interests and desired level of adventure.
Are the game drives private or shared?
Our game drives are generally shared with other Epako guests, but private drives can be arranged (subject to availability). You can contact us directly to discuss options.
What is the typical duration of a game drive?
Game drives typically last between 2 to 4 hours, giving you ample time to explore the reserve and encounter its diverse wildlife. The exact duration may vary depending on the route, animal sightings, timetable and weather conditions.
Are there any child age restrictions for activities?
Children of all ages are welcome to all activities under strict supervision of their parents.

What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that plans can change, so we have a flexible cancellation policy to ensure fairness:
- For cancellations of more than 90 days before arrival: 25% of the total booking amount will be retained
- For cancellations 90 to 61 days before arrival: 50% of the total booking amount will be retained
- For cancellations 60 to 31 days before arrival: 75% of the total booking amount will be retained
- For cancellations of 30 days or less before arrival: 100% of the total booking amount will be retained
Please note that private air transfers are payable upon booking and are non-refundable.
Do you offer travel insurance?
No, we do not offer insurance. However, we strongly recommend having travel insurance to protect yourself from unforeseen events that might require you to cancel your trip.
What is the currency used at Epako?
The currency used at Epako is the Namibian Dollar (NAD – N$). However, all major currencies are accepted and will be converted at the current exchange rate at the time of your booking.
Are there any medical facilities nearby?
While Epako is set in a secluded haven, your health and safety are our top priority. We have an on-call doctor available for any medical concerns, as well as a hospital located nearby in cases of emergency. If you have any specific medical conditions or require special assistance, please let us know in advance so we can ensure your stay is as comfortable and safe as possible.
Can I visit Epako for the day or book a day-pass Spa treatment without staying overnight?
To ensure the privacy and exclusivity of our guests’ experience, we do not allow day passes or offer individual day-spa bookings. Our spa, restaurant, and activities are designed to be part of a holistic and personalized stay at the lodge, which is exclusively reserved for our in-house guests.
